Fandoms: Killjoys, Daniel Blackland series, Withnail & I, The Flight Attendant

Killjoys
D'avin Jaqobis, Fancy Lee

Killjoys is one of my favorite sci-fi shows- I like the visuals, the dialogue, and the wordbuilding. I love how tropey and fun it can be, and it has some great emotional beats that feel like a punch in the gut. The characters are all larger-than-life, but it works with the feel of the show and the world. The relationships between the leads are strong and well-done and I don't think there's a main character I actively dislike. All other characters are more than welcome to show up, especially the rest of Team AwesomeForce, Turin, Weej, Jaq, and the Lady. I've received some wonderful fics for this fandom in the past, but it never gets old. Fandom specific DNW: No Johnny/Dutch, please.

 

D'avin was a surprise favorite- his first appearance made me afraid he’d take over the spotlight from Dutch, but he turned out to be a lot of fun- a goofball jock with a big heart. I love his willingness to go to extremes for the people he loves, in particular.

 

I liked Fancy from the start: handsome, competent, self-aware, and wry. I was delighted to see more of him in S2, traveling with Khlyen and being Hullen, and even more delighted to see him in S3, dealing with the aftermath.

 

I like both characters on their own, but D'avin and Fancy together? Excellent. From their 'allies, I guess' interactions in S1, to their antagonistic relationship in S2, to their trust and understanding in S3 and S4, these two have fantastic chemistry and bring out the best/worst in each other. Their banter is great, and even if S4 didn’t give Fancy the screentime I wanted for him, I really enjoyed their limited time together. Also, if you hadn’t guessed, I ship them.

 

Prompts if you want them:

• Fancy gets Hullenized again, and D'avin uses his power over the Green to de-Hullenize him again (From a distance? With his dick? Originally from a distance but, as things go on, D'avin's Magical DeHullenizing Dick makes an appearance? You decide!).
• Canon-divergent Red 17 fic, ft Fancy as a new Hullen and D'avin as a medical curiosity/prisoner, desperate for familiarity
• Fancy and D'avin go on a mission together. This could be canon-divergent, a 'missing mission,' or whatever else strikes you! Maybe they're trying to gather intelligence for the war, or maybe they're collecting a bounty, or maybe they stumbled onto something by accident and are now stuck together.
• Something exploring the similarities and differences between them. There was that great moment in S3 where D'avin shared how he understood what it was like to be controlled by something in your head, to live with that shame and knowledge, and I am 100% interested in hearing more about it.
• More about what life is like for the Cleansed! I felt cheated that we only got hints about what life was like for them, and I'd love a Fancy-focused fic on what life is like, and what it means that D'avin wants them to fight in the war.
• Lotus-eater fic in the Lady’s AU we saw at the end of S4. Maybe Fancy and D’avin are currently partnered Killjoys, maybe they’re still rivals, maybe they’ve never met (but are about to). I’d love to see them breaking loose from the Lady’s AU- subtle and not-so-subtle hints that something is wrong
• Fancy backstory! D'avin isn't necessary if you choose this option- I love Fancy and I'd be excited for any backstory for hijm.
• Post series fic!

Feel free to get dark, get weird, and/or get tropey. I’d love shipfic (and smut) for them, but their bitchy mutual-respect is the most important thing.


Daniel Blackland series
Any (Gabriel Argent, Max, Worldbuilding)

I love the worldbuilding in these books. Bone eating! Cannibalism! Water magic through signs and sigils! Bureaucracy! The alternate history! There's so much hinted at and ripe for exploration. I've received a fic for this series before, and it was absolutely fantastic, and now I crave more.

I love what a bureaucratic nerd Gabriel is, and Max's progression from hound to AD of the Water Dept. I definitely ship Gabriel and Max, and love their loyalty to each other.

Prompts if you want them:

• "Are you fucking my hound?"- Considering how Gabriel was very careful in trying to establish a sense of equality between him and Max, and not to make Max feel like he was a thing, how would their relationship change if they were fucking (from the start)? Would it be a power play on one of their parts? Gabriel trying to keep Max loyal or Max trying to make sure Gabriel finds him useful? Would it change things down the line?
• Osteomancer!Gabriel AU- I feel like this would be pretty dark, but I'm also very intrigued by how osteomancer!Gabriel would be different from how he is in canon. How would his and Max's relationship be different, considering Max's sensitive nose and Gabriel's relatives?
• What happened during the ten years between California Bones and Pacific Fire? What sort of power plays went down in LA that the new Director of the Water Department and his Assistant Director had to deal with? How did the progression from allies to best friends go, and did they even notice the progression? How many attempts on Gabriel's life have they had to deal with (or on Max's life)? How many people assume they're fucking, and are they/did they?
• What was Max's life like before he became a hound? What is the whole deal with hounds, anyway?
• Worldbuilding- Walt Disney is an osteomancer in this series, and I would love to know more about that! Just Walt building his empire of bone magic and wonder, and also maybe eating his rivals. Or more on the kingdoms of California, or how osteomancy has changed world history. There are a lot of really cool opportunities, I think!

Withnail & I
Peter Marwood, Withnail

This movie is so difficult for me to recommend to people and I love it so much. Richard E Grant and Paul McGann are brilliant, and their relationship is fascinating and hilarious and tragic. They have history between them, and their lack of work, and they're so careless with each other while still, on some level, caring deeply. Also, they both seem to be fairly bad at being people, which makes their choice of career even more interesting to me.

I do ship them, in a trainwreck sort of way where there's a level of misery and codependence. But I'd also be delighted to receive something that explores their relationship further, whether that be in the past or a future where they end up meeting again.

Prompts if you want them:

• Right off the bat- bad sex. Just the worst, really. The two of them coming together for whatever reason and even if the feelings are there the experience is just awful and humiliating for one or both of them. Erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation or teeth where they shouldn't be or technically it could be worse but for whatever reason it's still awful. Crying maybe?
• Pining/feelings realization, whether that be to themselves or to each other. I'm a sucker for these stories and would love to see something at any point in canon (esp as post-canon there would be the shadow of their failed holiday between them)
• How they met and the start of their friendship- Withnail, particularly, is a difficult person, so I'd love to see how they got to where they are
• Post-canon- does Marwood's career really take off, or was it just a one-time thing? Does Withnail at least pretend to pull himself together, or get even worse? How do they meet up again?

The Flight Attendant
Cassie Bowden, Miranda Croft

I recently watched this show and I really enjoyed it! It was wonderful to see Kaley Cuoco in something that wasn't The Big Bang Theory, and Michelle Gomez is extremely hot, and I loved all the weird mind stuff and how the case progressed. Watching Cassie's life unravel could have been way more depressing, but the pacing and humor made it enjoyable, if that's the right word. There was a lot going on in the show and I really liked how it came together.

I also really liked Cassie and Miranda's weird relationship, how they trust each other mostly out of necessity but start to like each other. I really hope we get to see more of them together in season two.  I do ship them but I mostly want to see more of their dynamic.

Prompts if you want them:

• Another case/conspiracy! Maybe Cassie takes the deal Shane mentioned to her in the finale and things go from there? Maybe Miranda gets involved in some further troubles and pulls Cassie in?
• Miranda popping up in seat 3C, again and again
• What are things like when they meet again, and Cassie is getting her life on track? Considering what a disaster Cassie was when they met, how does it alter their dynamic?
• Fake relationship fic? Maybe Miranda pretends to be Cassie's sugar mama? I think that could be fun
